The peak is the most prominent in its surroundings and provides spectacular view of both the coastal and continental side of the Velebit Mountain. It can be reached in roughly five hours of hiking from the Mountain hut.
Liburnija (1709 m a.s.l.) is one of the most beautiful „viewpoints“ on the Velebit Mountain, offering a spectacular view on the entire mid-Adriatic archipelago. It was named after “Liburnija” Mountaineering Association, which was founded in 1899 and was the first one in Zadar and Dalmatia. The best starting point for the ascent is the Paklenica Mountain Hut (480 m a .s.l.) with a marked route leading to the top. The ascent is suitable only for experienced hikers, as it is quite steep and demanding.
